Hello
Hi, I’m Paula, & I’m passionate about helping people to make positive changes in their lives. We all take care of our physical health, but sometimes we can neglect our mental health which can lead us down a path of negative thinking leading to high levels of stress & anxiety. Having worked in Education for 14 years & leading staff & pupils wellbeing, I’m acutely aware of the limitations of our external agencies which makes it difficult to reach their criteria, leaving thousands of people not knowing how or where to seek help.
This led to me to train in solution focused hypnotherapy so that I can offer a modern, well researched & effective alternative therapy which boasts outstanding results. In addition to this, I have started delivering online group classes in weight management & anxiety. These classes are great value and allow me to reach out to more clients in need of support
My Story
After graduating in 2008 with a Physical Education BA (HONS) degree, I secured a job at King’s Academy Ringmer. Graduating as a mature student provided me with additional insight into educational settings so it wasn’t long before I took on an additional role of Head of Year. It was always my passion to support young people & help them to make positive choices by providing them with the necessary tools & confidence to look after themselves in the best possible way.
During my time as Head of Year, I worked closely with the pastoral team & trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). In 2018 I became Lead Mental Health (my dream role) which involved looking after the wellbeing of both the students & the staff. It involved further training in Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing, with providers such as PixL, ISEND & Time to Change. I also trained as a Mental Health First Aider in July 2019. I was regularly involved in running whole school assemblies, staff training & setting up the well-being website for students, parents & staff.
During this time I also received training in Restorative Peer Mediation (RPM) & led a team of 35 wellbeing ambassadors to effectively peer mentor our more vulnerable students. Realising the potential impact on coaching & mentoring led me to train as a STILL Method Coach in March 2021 (www.thestillmethod.co.uk). This method brings together the best techniques from Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming & Personal Development. It uses a step-by-step system to understand & manage anxiety, improve self-esteem & gain resilience. This enabled me to deliver group sessions within the school setting & the wider community which proved very popular.
Having always been interested in the development in neuroscience & brain plasticity, especially related to exercise & the production of serotonin, I found myself researching further ways to support people struggling with mental health with a solution focused approach. I concluded that hypnotherapy was the most advanced form of therapy as it was evidence based & delivered consistent results. Therefore In July 2021 I began my training to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with the prestigious Clifton Practice in Brighton, a recognised & accredited centre of excellence in clinical hypnotherapy & psychotherapy.
